This was alternative because it didn't involve any human actors or performers, it was totally animated and made from plaster sine. They have basically filmed there video like this because it is a very unique way to get noticed and appeal to a smaller niche audience. Also it will attract a lot of media interest such as magazines and articles. It also tries to connect it to the audience with emotions, such as comedy and empathy for the main character.
