Intertextuality Music Video

This music video by Alien ant Farm is a reference to Michael Jackson. In the video there are many things that reference michael jackson. They use some of Michael Jackson signature dance moves.

Alien ant farm would use intertextuality in this music video because it relates to the song which is also a reference to michael Jackson's song 'Smooth Criminal'. They have tried to create comedy through the video by making fun of Michael Jackson. This is supposed to entertain the viewer.
In this video they also reference michael jackson through his pet monkey 'Bubbles'.

They also reference different Michael Jackson videos such as 'Billie Jean' they take aspects of the dancing and his costume. Michael Jackson is know for wearing short trousers and in this video the main artist pulls up the bottom of his trousers to reference this.

Alien Ant Farm have used intertextuality in their video to try and gain publicity. This creates free advertisement for the band because the press will have a lot to say about it. They will also create a talking point through social media. Posting this video online will make people talk about it and share it with friends. This is what they want to achieve.
